Mareile Kaufmann has been studying digital technologies for almost a decade. She has a background in cultural studies and criminology and is a post doc at IKRS (Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law, University of Oslo) working on “deviance and the digital”. She is also a senior researcher at PRIO, where she has worked on ethics-oriented EU-funded projects, and on projects about technology, security and resilience. Her current work focuses on the value of critique, and on hacking, encryption and profiling. She has published broadly on resilience, but also on internet security, profiling algorithms and social media use during emergencies.
